New sports and swimming complexes open or planned in Croatia and Bosnia

Several new and upcoming sports and recreational aquatic complexes are being developed or opened across Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In Zagreb, the Špansko swimming pool complex has officially opened. The project, valued at approximately 36.3 million euros and fully funded by the city budget, features a large sports pool, an educational-rehabilitative pool, a wellness zone, and a gym. Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević noted the project fulfills a decades-old promise to the western part of the city.

Other regional developments include the upcoming Wellovar complex in Bjelovar, which is facing political discussions regarding ticket pricing, and a new 7.2 million euro sports center planned for Sveti Ivan Zelina, with construction expected to begin next year.

In Mostar, the first phase of the Olympic Pool project is nearing completion. The construction, managed by the company Hering, has faced delays due to the need to relocate existing school buildings and electrical infrastructure. The first phase cost 12 million KM, while the second phase is estimated to cost approximately 20 to 24 million KM.
