Zagreb police investigate discovery of human remains in Pešćenica

Human remains were discovered among waste at a business site in the Pešćenica district of Zagreb. Zagreb police reported that the upper part of a human skeleton was found on September 22, followed by the discovery of the lower part the next day. The remains have been transported to the Institute for Forensic Medicine and Criminology to determine the identity of the deceased, the cause of death, and whether any criminal activity occurred.

While official identification is pending, local media and the MMA community report that the remains are believed to belong to 26-year-old former MMA fighter Abraham Salimon Are, also known as Abi. Are was a member of the American Top Team and competed in the Fight Nation Championship (FNC).

Unconfirmed reports suggest the remains may have been transported to the site via construction waste from a local building site. Some unofficial accounts within the fighting community speculate that Are may have died from an overdose in an abandoned house scheduled for demolition, with an excavator subsequently picking up the body along with debris.
