Zagreb removes damaged traffic bollards on Savska cesta
Damaged traffic bollards have been removed from Savska cesta in Zagreb following widespread destruction of the reflective markers. The City of Zagreb decided to remove the damaged equipment between Slavonska Avenue and Vukovarska Street to ensure safe traffic flow, leaving only plastic barriers separating the tram lanes from car lanes.
The bollards and yellow lane separators were installed in late June along a 2.5-kilometer stretch to prevent motorists from entering public transport corridors. The measure was intended to speed up tram transit by physically blocking cars and taxis from using the dedicated lanes.
The cause of the damage remains unknown. While vehicle impacts are a possibility, the extent of the breakage suggests other factors, such as severe weather or vandalism, may have contributed to the destruction of the infrastructure.
