Zagreb reopens Zvonimirova tramway construction site after fence installed

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević announced that the construction site on Zvonimirova Street, part of the tramway renovation, was reopened on Thursday after the contractor met the State Inspectorate’s demand for a two‑kilometre safety fence, which was erected within 24 hours.

The inspector had previously ordered a stop to work at three city sites – Zvonimirova, Vukovarska and Savska streets – citing lack of adequate barriers and safety measures. Official signs and tape were placed, and the city expects the other contractors to align with the inspector’s requirements.

The reopening is timed before the start of the school year to minimise traffic disruption, and the mayor stressed the importance of complying with legal and safety standards for all private construction firms involved.
