Zagreb resident disputes high funeral service bill
A resident in Zagreb has reported a significant dispute with a funeral home regarding unexpected costs for a basic service. Despite requesting the most modest and inexpensive option—specifically excluding flowers, music, and speeches—the client received a bill totaling 2,400 euros.
The dispute centered on several items, including a 300-euro urn and various unitemized package costs for services such as cold storage, preparation of the deceased, and cremation clothing. The client noted that the company initially refused to provide a formal price list.
Following a formal complaint, the owner of the funeral home attributed the misunderstanding to an employee. The company eventually offered a 600-euro reduction as a gesture of goodwill, though the client expressed dissatisfaction with the overall communication and the process.
