Zagreb school renovation begins after six-year delay

Renovation work has finally commenced at the School of Applied Arts and Design (ŠPUD) in Zagreb, following a six-year delay. The construction company Hedom has been granted access to the site to begin the project.

Students have been operating from a secondary location since 2020. While initial projections suggested a return to the central Zagreb building by mid-2027, the current timeline for completion has shifted. Students are now expected to return to their original classrooms in late 2027 or early 2028.

The renovation project is valued at approximately 13.7 million euros. Although the contract was finalized following a public procurement process, the start of physical works was delayed by several months due to coordination efforts regarding technical and safety requirements between the contractor and local authorities.
