Zagreb school stabbing: 15-year-old detained for attempted murder

A 15-year-old suspect has been placed in investigative detention following a knife attack at a high school in Zagreb. The State Attorney's Office (DORH) reports that the teenager is suspected of attempted heavy murder, two counts of attempted murder, and nine counts of violating children's rights.

According to investigators, the incident occurred on the morning of September 11. The suspect allegedly arranged a meeting with a 14-year-old fellow student, whom he then stabbed multiple times in a school room. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries but survived due to emergency medical intervention.

Following the initial attack, the suspect reportedly attempted to strike a school security employee, who managed to escape. He then turned his weapon on a 59-year-old cleaning staff member, inflicting life-threatening stab wounds. The attack was eventually halted by other school employees. Nine students witnessed the event, causing significant fear and a sense of insecurity among the student body. The judge for juveniles granted the detention request to prevent witness tampering and the risk of reoffending.
