Zagreb school attack: Student stabs classmate and employee

A violent incident occurred on Friday morning at the Electrical Engineering School in the Voltino neighborhood of Zagreb, where a masked student attacked a peer and a 59-year-old school employee with a sharp object.

The attacker, reportedly a first-year student, was subdued on the scene by a teacher and another individual before being taken into police custody. Witnesses described a chaotic scene where students fled the building in panic. One teacher, Mario Božurić, helped restrain the attacker and provided first aid to the injured student.

The two victims were transported to different hospitals. A 15-year-old student was taken to KBC Zagreb, where he underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening stab wounds to the chest and abdomen; he is currently in stable condition. The school employee was treated at KBC Sestre milosrdnice for multiple stab wounds and is also in stable condition.

Authorities are investigating the motive, with reports suggesting a potential conflict between the two students occurred the previous day. The Ministry of Science, Education and Youth is deploying a crisis team to the school, and psychological support is being organized for students, parents, and staff. Classes at the school have been suspended.
