Regional autumn festivals celebrate local traditions and seasonal harvests

Various regions across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia are hosting traditional autumn festivals and markets to celebrate local heritage and seasonal produce.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the 26th Pećka kestenijada in Pećigrad gathered thousands to celebrate chestnuts, a vital seasonal income source for the Cazinska krajina region. Similarly, the autumn fair in Gornja Dubica promoted local products and handmade crafts.

In Croatia, numerous events highlighted regional traditions. The Dubrovačka trpeza in Dubrovnik raised a record 20,289.99 EUR for associations supporting the blind and deaf. Slatina hosted the ‘YESen u hEPIcentru’ event under a giant sequoia, while Petrinja held its Chestnut Festival. Other notable events included the Zaprešić economic fair, the ‘Zlatna jesen’ festival in Đurđevc, and the ‘Dani albanske kulture’ in Karlovac. Additionally, the Turenska autumn basket in Podturn and the Nordic walking festival in Gornje Međimurje promoted local gastronomy and outdoor recreation.

In Serbia, the ‘Kukuricamova’ event in Gornji Breg celebrated traditional corn harvesting through competitions and workshops to pass agricultural customs to younger generations.
