Zagreb to host inclusive sensory film screenings for children

The Croatian Film Association is resuming its sensory film screenings in Zagreb on October 14, 2026. These free sessions are specifically designed to be inclusive for children with sensory processing disorders, as well as any children seeking a more relaxed cinema experience.

During these screenings, lights remain dimmed rather than fully extinguished, sound levels are reduced and adjusted, and doors remain open to allow children freedom of movement, including clapping, singing, or dancing. The concept, launched in 2016 by Eva Brlek and Sandra Malenica, aims to create a safe and supportive environment.

The October program features two animated films:

At 10:00 at Kinoteka, the Croatian-Czech science fiction film ‘Kristalni planet’, directed by Arsen Anton Ostojić and based on an idea by Oscar winner Dušan Vukotić, will be shown. It follows two children on a newly inhabited planet.

At 17:30 at the Susedgrad Culture Center, ‘Priče iz čarobnog vrta’ will be screened, telling a story about three children discovering the comfort of imagination through storytelling.
