Zagreb unions threaten strike over ZET and Holding wages

A strike is threatened for September 28 in Zagreb if negotiations between the city and unions representing ZET and Zagrebački holding fail. Unions are demanding higher wages, indexation, and improved collective agreements.

Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević stated that the gap between union demands and management offers remains significant. He noted that while wages for municipal workers and ZET drivers have risen substantially over the last five years, the current demands for approximately 20 percent increases and further indexation are unexpected.

Data released by the Holding shows varying net salaries for July. For example, the average net salary for a municipal worker in Čistoća was approximately 1,650 euros, while ZET bus drivers averaged around 1,992 euros. Individual earnings vary based on seniority, shifts, and overtime, with some drivers earning over 2,700 euros.

If the strike proceeds, it could cause major disruptions to public transport, waste removal, and other essential municipal services in the capital.
