Zagreb Zoo staff rescue young swan stuck in staircase
A young swan was rescued in Zagreb after getting its head stuck in the pillar of a car service staircase. Citizens spotted the bird and alerted the Zagreb Zoo's wildlife rehabilitation center.
A staff member from the zoo's field service successfully freed the swan from the narrow gap. The bird was then transported to the Zagreb Zoo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for medical evaluation.
A veterinarian examined the animal and reported that it is healthy, strong, and slightly aggressive. The swan will remain under observation for a few days before being released back into the wild. The bird is currently in the process of molting, a stage where swans transition to white plumage during their second year of life.
