Zahara de los Atunes to host free Pacheco el Viejo Flamenco Festival
The eighth edition of the Pacheco el Viejo Flamenco Festival will take place on August 21 in Zahara de los Atunes. A major highlight for this year's event is that admission will be free to the public.
The festival, held at the 15th-century Palacio de las Pilas starting at 22:30, is headlined by singer Alonso Núñez, known professionally as Rancapino Chico. The lineup also includes Ismael de la Rosa ‘El Bola’ and local singer María Ángeles Heredia, who represents the Manzorro and Heredia flamenco families. The performances will feature dance by Emilio Castañeda and his group, with musical accompaniment from Antonio Higuero, Joselito Acedo, and Juan Benjumea. The evening will be presented by journalist Juan Garrido.
The festival is named in honor of Pacheco el Viejo, a non-professional singer who operated a tavern in Zahara de los Atunes frequented by flamenco enthusiasts. The event is supported by the Provincial Culture Foundation of the Diputación de Cádiz.
