Zahara Marley Jolie officially drops Pitt surname
Zahara Marley Jolie, the 21-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially legally dropped her father’s surname. A California judge approved her petition on September 28, allowing her to be known legally as Zahara Marley Jolie rather than Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt. The court ruling was granted without objection.
Zahara is the third of the couple’s six children to formally remove the Pitt surname. She follows her siblings Maddox, who finalized his name change in September, and Shiloh, who did so in 2024. Another daughter, Vivienne, has also filed a petition to change her name, with a hearing scheduled for November.
The legal changes occur amid reports of strained relations between Pitt and his children following the couple's 2016 separation and 2024 divorce finalization. While the children have not publicly cited specific reasons for the name changes, Zahara had already been using her mother’s surname in public settings, including during her recent graduation from Spelman College.
