Zahari Sarip appointed Speaker of Johor State Legislative Assembly

Datuk Zahari Sarip, the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Buloh Kasap, has been appointed as the new Speaker of the Johor State Legislative Assembly. The appointment was confirmed during a swearing-in ceremony held at the Johor State Assembly in Kota Iskandar following the formation of the state government after the recent Johor State Election.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi nominated Zahari, with the proposal supported by Bukit Permai ADUN Datuk Mohd. Jafni Md. Shukor. Onn Hafiz cited Zahari’s extensive administrative and public service experience as the basis for his selection. Zahari’s career includes roles as a teacher, an officer to the Minister of Health, a member of the Dewan Negara, and serving as the Chairman of the State Agriculture, Basic Industry, and Rural Development Committee from 2022 to 2026.

Upon his appointment, Zahari expressed gratitude to the Menteri Besar and the Johor ADUNs for their trust, stating that the role is a great honor and responsibility. He also extended thanks to the former Speaker, Datuk Mohd. Puad Zarkashi, and the former Deputy Speaker, Datuk Samsolbari Jamali.
