Zahedan explosion triggers investigation in southeastern Iran

An explosion was reported in Zahedan, the capital of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, on Wednesday. The sound was heard near Jomhouri Street, in the vicinity of a police station.

Zahedan Governor Jamshid Rokshan stated that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the noise. Initial reports suggest the sound may have been caused by a “sonic device.” There have been no reports of material damage or human casualties resulting from the incident.

The event occurs amid heightened security readiness across Iran. The Director General of the Iranian Civil Defense Organization, Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali, noted that approximately 46 executive and operational entities have been placed on standby to handle potential wartime conditions and protect vital infrastructure.
