Zaheer Khan becomes co-owner of Anchor Jaffna Kings in Lanka Premier League

Former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan has joined the ownership of the Jaffna franchise in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) as a co‑owner. The team, previously known as Jaffna Kings, was acquired by Stockholm‑based Anchor Sports AB and rebranded as Anchor Jaffna Kings. The acquisition follows the termination of the previous owners after co‑owner Manjot Kalra was arrested on match‑fixing allegations. Anchor Sports AB, whose portfolio also includes the Antwerp Anchors in Belgium and the Vancouver Anchors in Canada, completed the takeover together with co‑owner Nagendra Siddoutam. The franchise, a four‑time LPL champion, is currently among the top two teams on the points table. Both the LPL rights holder Innovative Production Group (IPG) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) welcomed the new ownership, and Khan expressed his excitement about contributing to Sri Lankan cricket, saying he has long admired the country’s bowling talent.
