Zaheer Khan discusses Gurnoor Brar's potential and Mohammad Shami's comeback

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has shared his perspectives on the current state of Indian fast bowling, highlighting both rising talent and established players facing selection challenges.

Khan expressed high praise for Gurnoor Brar, noting that "on potential, he has impressed me the most." Brar, who plays for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, has recently been fast-tracked into the Indian team, performing well in ODIs against Afghanistan and India 'A' matches. While Khan noted Brar's strength in pace and height, he also observed that the bowler needs further refinement to improve control.

Regarding Mohammad Shami, who has not played for the national team since the 2025 Champions Trophy despite strong domestic performances for Bengal, Khan emphasized the importance of a player's personal mindset. Khan stated, "If you are playing matches and performing well, you remain available... the way you want to move forward... it is your decision."

Khan also addressed the ongoing injury crisis within the Indian fast-bowling unit, noting that while workload management is a factor, players must focus on controlling what is within their power to prevent injury and identify root causes.
