Zahora driver investigated for reckless driving and simulated theft

A driver is under investigation by the Guardia Civil after causing a traffic accident in Zahora, Cádiz, abandoning his vehicle, and subsequently reporting it as stolen.

According to investigators, the vehicle entered the wrong lane and collided with roadside elements, leaving the car obstructing traffic. After the crash, the driver and a passenger fled the scene. The driver then went to the Barbate Guardia Civil station to report the car as stolen.

Following a reconstruction of the event, authorities determined the driver acted with ‘temeridad manifiesta’ (manifest recklessness). The individual is being investigated for crimes against road safety and the simulation of a crime under the Spanish Penal Code.
