Zahrann wins Naturalism Stakes to secure 2026 Caulfield Cup berth

Zahrann, an Irish import trained by Ciaron Maher, secured a ballot-exemption berth for the 2026 Caulfield Cup following a dominant victory in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes. Ridden by Ethan Brown, the $3.20 favourite won the 2000m race by one length.

Maher’s stable achieved a successful double in the event, as stablemate Saint George finished second, also satisfying the necessary qualification criteria for the Group 1 $6.55 million feature. Following the win, Zahrann has emerged as a leading contender in Caulfield Cup betting.

Trainer Ciaron Maher expressed satisfaction with the performance, noting that both horses achieved their immediate objectives. Zahrann is expected to compete in the October 17 race, potentially carrying a weight of 52.5kg, subject to any penalties for his Naturalism Stakes win.
