Zak Williams discusses Robin Williams’ final months and mental health struggles

Zak Williams has shared new insights regarding the final months of his father, actor Robin Williams, prior to his death by suicide in August 2014. Speaking on ‘The Squeeze’ podcast, Zak noted that his father was actively seeking support and was not “far off” from finding relief for his frustrations.

Robin Williams, who died at age 63, had been misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s disease before his passing. It was later determined that he was suffering from Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurological condition. Zak reflected on the difficulty his father faced when his symptoms did not align with a Parkinson’s diagnosis.

Zak expressed that he still holds “unresolved considerations” regarding his father's death, noting that he had high hopes the actor would find peace. Additionally, Zak and his siblings recently revived Robin’s Instagram account to protect his likeness from “rampant AI abuse.”
