ZAKA partners with National Sheriffs’ Association for U.S. training

ZAKA, an Israeli religious emergency response and rescue organization, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) to provide training to U.S. law enforcement. The partnership involves donating equipment and sharing specialized skills for managing terrorism incidents, mass casualty events, forensic preservation, and first responder mental health. The training also includes instruction on Jewish burial customs.

Separately, ZAKA reported its busiest 24-hour operational period of the Hebrew year 5786, managing multiple fatal incidents across Israel, including drownings and motor vehicle collisions. During this period, the organization’s International Unit also coordinated with authorities in Mexico to assist an Israeli family following the drowning of a child in San José del Cabo, facilitating the repatriation of the body for burial according to Jewish tradition.
