Zakat institutions launch social welfare and empowerment programs in Indonesia
Various zakat institutions and alumni organizations in Indonesia are conducting social welfare and economic empowerment initiatives.
In Padang, LAZ Alumni FK UNAND distributed 100 food packages to underprivileged fishermen across six districts to mark National Maritime Day. The program included health and occupational safety counseling for the fishermen to prevent diseases and accidents at sea.
In collaboration with the Universitas Padjadjaran Alumni Association, Baznas RI is establishing ZCorner, ZCoffee, and a ZStudent Center at the Unpad Grand Mosque. These spaces aim to empower students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds, through economic activities and social movement spaces.
Additionally, Rumah Sehat Baznas in Batam provided free medical examinations and canned food assistance to converts (mualaf) in Kampung Tua Tanjung Gundap. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure inclusive access to healthcare for communities with limited service access.
