Zakopane hosts 57th International Festival of Highland Folklore

The 57th International Festival of Highland Folklore is underway in Zakopane, celebrating the diverse cultural heritage of the Carpathian highlands. The event features a wide array of programming, including musical performances from international artists, traditional dance competitions, and presentations of regional customs.

Highlights of the festival include the ‘Na Folkową Nutę’ concert, which showcased musical improvisations from Hungary, and various workshops inspired by Podhale traditions. The festival also includes the presentation of the ‘Złote Kierpce’ regional children's ensembles and traditional wedding demonstrations in the streets of Zakopane.

In conjunction with the festivities, photographer Marcin Szkodziński is hosting an exhibition on Krupówki. His collection, titled ‘Żywioł Folkloru’, features 14 photographs capturing the emotions, traditional costumes, and dynamic movements of performers from previous editions of the festival.
