Zakopane investor addresses Bachledzki Wierch demolition order
During a Zakopane urban planning commission meeting, an investor involved in the Bachledzki Wierch illegal construction case addressed the court-ordered demolition of several structures. Józef M., who holds a final verdict for unauthorized construction, argued that the lack of a local spatial management plan has contributed to the issue. He expressed personal difficulties, citing his responsibilities as a father, and questioned the necessity of the legal proceedings.
Local activists and residents responded by stating that family circumstances should not justify illegal construction or court rulings. The demolition of the five buildings and an illegal road is estimated to cost approximately 1.7 million PLN, with each building costing around 300,000 PLN to remove. Some city councilors have expressed concerns regarding the use of public funds for the demolition, fearing it may set a costly precedent for the municipal budget.
