Zakopane receives EU funds for ecological infrastructure projects

Zakopane has been awarded EU funding for two major ecological projects aimed at improving urban infrastructure and waste management.

The first project, focused on green-blue infrastructure, has received approximately 1.6 million PLN in EU support, with a total project value of nearly 1.97 million PLN. This initiative aims to increase urban greenery, improve rainwater retention, and enhance biodiversity through tree plantings, flower meadows, and the installation of bird and insect habitats. It also includes unsealing impermeable surfaces and creating a pocket park.

The second project involves the Tatrzańska Komunalna Grupa Kapitałowa ‘TESKO’, which will receive support to modernize and expand the local Selective Waste Collection Point (PSZOK). This facility will be upgraded to better facilitate the reuse of items and improve municipal waste management.
