Zakynthos family reunion: California residents trace ancestral roots

Dennis Cook and his family traveled from California to Zakynthos, Greece, to reconnect with their ancestral roots in the village of Tragaki. Guided by old letters and black-and-white family photographs, the group sought to find descendants of Cook's grandfather, Dionysios Pomoni.

Dionysios Pomoni had emigrated from the island in 1910, eventually settling in San Francisco. Although he never returned to Greece, he maintained contact with his family in Tragaki through correspondence that lasted from 1910 until the 1940s. Using a recorded Greek message to assist in their search, the family was able to navigate their way to the village to pursue their reunion.
