Zakynthos installs second Seatrac mechanism for disability access

The Zakynthos Association of Persons with Disabilities, ‘Oi Popolaroi’, has welcomed the completion of the second Seatrac mechanism installation at Tsilivi beach by the Municipality of Zakynthos. This initiative is viewed as a significant step toward providing autonomous and safe sea access for people with disabilities and limited mobility.

However, the association has raised concerns regarding the misuse of these facilities. Reports indicate that some individuals are using the mechanisms and access corridors as diving ramps, and unauthorized persons are occupying designated shaded areas intended for beneficiaries. The association warned that improper use could lead to damage, accidents, and the loss of access for those who need it most.

Additionally, the group has requested an immediate investigation by municipal authorities into reported issues regarding the use of the Seatrac mechanism at Alykes to ensure continued safe and uninterrupted service.
