Zakynthos municipal council appoints new president and committee members

A special public session of the Zakynthos municipal council was held on Monday, 6 July 2026 to form the new council presidency and the municipal committee for the second term of the 2024‑2028 administrative period. The meeting complied with the new Local Government Code (Law 5314/2026) and related ministerial circulars.

Council members elected Dionysia Telli (Strong Zakynthos) as president with 16 votes, Eirini Chatzichristofi (Change Power) as vice‑president with 7 votes, and Giannis Kallergis (Strong Zakynthos) as secretary. The session also confirmed the slate of regular and substitute members of the municipal committee submitted by the participating party groups. The proceedings were streamed live for local residents.

The election marks the start of the council’s second legislative term and is expected to shape municipal governance on the island for the next four years.
