Zakynthos Port Developments Move Forward After Ministerial Visit

Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Vasilis Kikilias visited the island of Zakynthos and met with local authorities, including DEEP president Stelios Gouliaris. The officials discussed a series of port‑area projects that are progressing from planning to execution. The dredging work, already awarded to a contractor, is set to begin shortly, and works on asphalt paving of the port zone and upgrading the lighting system are also slated to start.

Gouliaris stressed that the new master plan for the port is now in the approval stage and will soon be presented publicly, providing a clear roadmap for future interventions. He emphasized the shift from promises to concrete actions, noting that the projects have secured financing, defined timelines and involve coordinated effort among the Ministry, local administration, the Port Authority and contractors. "Citizens no longer care about new promises but about projects with secured funding, clear schedules and tangible results," he said.
