Zakynthos secures €105 million for infrastructure projects

Zakynthos is set to undergo a series of significant infrastructure projects aimed at improving local life and tourism. According to MP Dionysios Aktypis, approximately €105 million has been secured for various developments on the island.

Key projects include the dredging of the port, which is scheduled to begin in the autumn to avoid the summer peak in maritime traffic. The dredging contract has been awarded to Spanopoulos. Additionally, a new marina is planned in front of the Strada Marina hotel, while the old marina area will be handed over to the Port Fund to facilitate traffic adjustments for city exits.

Other planned interventions include the redevelopment of Argasio beach, with works expected to commence in October following contractor verification, and expansion projects related to the Shipwreck (Navagio) site. The island is also addressing needs regarding the local hospital, the Labor Center, and the Laganas area.
