Zala County man detained after allegedly attacking police with an axe

A man in his sixties has been detained in Zala County after allegedly attacking police officers with an axe. The incident occurred following a report of wood theft at a small settlement.

According to the Central Investigative Chief Prosecutor's Office, when officers arrived to intervene, the suspect reportedly insulted and made death threats against the complainant and their family. The man then allegedly approached the officers in an aggressive manner, raising an axe over his shoulder as if to strike. Patrol officers had to call for reinforcements to successfully apprehend and handcuff the suspect.

The suspect has denied all wrongdoing and has appealed the court's decision to detain him for one month. He has a prior record of a similar violent offense against an official, for which he received a suspended sentence. If convicted in the current case, he faces a potential prison sentence of up to eight years.
