Zalaszentiván delta track construction begins in Hungary

Construction has begun on the Zalaszentiván delta track project in Hungary. The initiative involves building a 1,500-meter electrified connecting track designed to eliminate the need for direction changes for trains passing through the area.

This development is expected to improve the efficiency and speed of both passenger and freight rail services. Currently, trains traveling between Szombathely and Zalaegerszeg, as well as international freight corridors connecting the Baltics to the Adriatic via Slovakia, Poland, and Slovenia, must stop at Zalaszentiván to change directions. The new track will allow for continuous movement, reducing travel times and increasing rail competitiveness.

Additionally, the project includes the establishment of a new railway stop named Szentivánvölgy. Located near the village center, this stop will provide local residents with better access to passenger rail services, enhancing regional mobility.
