Zamalek faces CAS dispute with Morocco's Union Tanger over Abdelhamid Maali transfer

Union Tanger says it has closed all friendly talks with Egyptian club Zamalek and is waiting for FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to enforce a ruling that obliges Zamalek to settle the outstanding fees for former player Abdelhamid Maali. The Moroccan side claims the transfer fee was $500,000 payable in three installments, while a FIFA decision quoted a higher amount of about $900,000 that remains unpaid. Zamalek has not responded to Union Tanger’s attempts to renegotiate the installments, and the case is now pending before CAS.

The dispute adds to Zamalek’s broader financial problems, including a FIFA sanction that has blocked the club from registering new players due to multiple unpaid debts. Union Tanger is awaiting the execution of the court’s decision to recover the claimed sum.
