Zamalek Football Club Files Formal Complaint Against TV Host Amir Hisham

The board of Egypt's Zamalek Sporting Club has lodged an official complaint with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation against television presenter Amir Hisham, a host on the channel "Modern." The club alleges that Hisham made defamatory remarks and questioned the financial integrity of board members in two consecutive episodes, which Zamalek says breach professional media codes and standards. Zamalek said it will pursue all legal avenues and warned it will take similar action against any media figure who exceeds permissible criticism of the club.

In a related statement, a club insider clarified rumors that Zamalek had paid an $8 million lump sum to secure its African football licence. The source said the club is instead negotiating installment payments with creditors to settle outstanding disputes, a practice common among football clubs worldwide.
