Zamalek refuses Dubai club's offer for Juan Becerra, demands $6 million fee
The board of Egypt's Zamalek Sporting Club has confirmed that it will retain forward Juan Becerra for the upcoming season, rejecting a transfer proposal from the United Arab Emirates' Shabab Al Ahli Dubai. Zamalek insists on a payment of $6 million in cash plus an additional $1 million in performance‑related bonuses, a sum the Emirati side has not met. The club also cited the difficulty of finding a comparable replacement amid a registration freeze.
A source within Zamalek added that the team is not overly concerned about Becerra’s possible departure, pointing to midfielder Ahmed Al‑Jafali as a viable alternative. The decision comes as Zamalek prepares for the CAF Champions League, aiming to keep its core squad intact.
Becerra has publicly expressed a desire to leave, but the club maintains that any sale will only proceed if a higher offer is received.
