Zamalek SC prepares for CAF Champions League clash against Armée de Rwanda

Zamalek SC is preparing for its CAF Champions League second preliminary round first-leg match against Rwanda's Armée de Rwanda. The team has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of the fixture scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at Amahoro Stadium. The return leg is set to take place at Cairo International Stadium on October 24, 2026.

The club faces tactical challenges following a recent loss in the Egyptian Premier League derby against Al Ahly. Former player Walid Salah Abdel Latif criticized head coach Moataz Gamal's management of that match, citing tactical errors and officiating grievances. Reports indicate that Gamal's future with the club may depend heavily on the team's performance in the upcoming continental tournament.

Additionally, Zamalek will be without Moroccan player Mahmoud Bentayg, who is sidelined for approximately one month due to a hamstring tear. The coaching staff is currently evaluating Ahmed Fatouh and Ahmed Abdel Rahim Eisho as potential replacements for the left-back position.
