Zambia authorities seize K22.5 million in goods and impound stolen vehicles

Law enforcement and revenue authorities in Zambia have conducted significant operations targeting smuggling, illicit trade, and organized crime. The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) seized assorted goods valued at approximately K22.5 million during joint operations conducted between October 5 and 9 across several provinces, including Lusaka, Copperbelt, North-Western, Southern, and Western. The seizure included over 14,000 bricks of cigarettes and more than 6,500 bottles of alcohol.

During these operations, authorities also impounded three vehicles—a Toyota Fortuner, Ford Ranger, and Toyota Hilux—that were confirmed to be stolen from outside Zambia following verification against INTERPOL data. Additionally, police in Western Province arrested 13 suspects and recovered 32 head of cattle suspected of being stolen or unlawfully obtained. Investigators noted that the suspects had allegedly attempted to disguise the cattle's origin by applying new brand marks over existing ones. Cross-border investigations into the livestock theft are ongoing.
