Zambia Electoral Commission enforces campaign timetable and reprimands candidate

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) issued a formal reprimand to candidate Joseph Chilinda after he was found campaigning in a ward allocated to another parliamentary aspirant, breaching the agreed campaign code of conduct. ECZ highlighted that the schedule is binding and intended to prevent clashes between rival parties.

ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis defended the national presidential campaign timetable, stating that its purpose is to ensure order, fairness and credibility in the electoral process, not to restrict political competition. She affirmed the commission’s commitment to impartiality, cited upcoming ballot‑paper printing in Dubai, and urged all parties to cooperate ahead of the August 13 general election.
