Zambia President Hakainde Hichilema launches re‑election campaign at Heroes Stadium

President Hakainde Hichilema officially opened his re‑election campaign for the 13 August 2026 general election in Lusaka, delivering his address at Heroes Stadium before a crowd that spilled onto surrounding streets. The rally, described as one of the largest in the party’s history, drew thousands of supporters, university students, celebrities, musicians and content creators, creating a vibrant, youth‑driven atmosphere.

In his speech, Hichilema defended his government’s economic record, citing improved indicators and growing reserves, and attacked opposition candidates Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu, dismissing them as “the two boys” and linking them to policies of the previous administration.
