Zambian police detain members of Mundubile campaign team

Zambian authorities have reportedly conducted a series of arrests targeting the Tonse Pamodzi Alliance campaign team and its supporters. Among those detained are businessman Valden Findlay and Kennedy Kaamba, the alliance's Deputy Secretary General for Vote Protection, who were reportedly moved from Twin Palm Police Station to an undisclosed location by officers believed to be from the Drug Enforcement Commission.

Other high-profile detentions include former Zambian diplomat Ambassador Martha Lungu Mwitumwa and blogger Hannah Katontoka, following a police raid on the Mundubile media centre in Longacres. The crackdown follows campaign disruptions in Western Province, including a roadshow in Kalabo and a rally in Mongu.

Additional detainees include several bloggers, such as Abraham Rooney Kapya and Zubi, as well as security personnel and entertainers, including musician Moses Ng’andwe (Chester), Felix Mangani Phiri, and comedian Winston Ngosa. The campaign team has characterized these actions as a wider crackdown on its personnel, while Brian Mundubile recently cancelled a trip to Livingstone citing security concerns and fears of organized violence.
