Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema campaigns across Central Province ahead of 2026 election
President Hakainde Hichilema thanked residents of Nangoma in Central Province, pledging continued development through agriculture, mining and livestock, and reaffirmed free education and increased constituency development funds. He urged voters to support the United Party for National Development (UPND) in the August 13, 2026 general election.
The visit concludes a two‑day campaign tour of Central Province, covering Luano, Kapiri Mposhi, Ngabwe, Katuba, Shibuyunji and Nangoma, with rallies at Chikonkomene and Council Grounds. Hichilema aims to turn the province into an impregnable stronghold for the UPND, targeting more than five million votes – well above the 50 % + 1 threshold needed for a first‑round victory.
