Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema inspects Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway progress

President Hakainde Hichilema toured sections of the Lusaka–Ndola dual carriageway, a flagship transport corridor linking Zambia’s capital with the Copperbelt hub of Ndola. He assessed construction milestones, emphasised quality workmanship and timely completion, and highlighted the road’s expected impact on travel time, safety, transport costs and Zambia’s role as a regional logistics hub.

During the same inspection the president announced an upgrade of the Landless Corner–Mumbwa road to bituminous standard and reported that renegotiating the dual‑carriageway project saved US$550 million, reducing the contract from over US$1 billion to US$650 million under a public‑private partnership that shifts financial risk to concession partners. He also pledged local job creation, recruitment of four volunteer nurses into the civil service, and the opening of maize depots to improve farmer payments, while urging residents to support his party in upcoming elections.
