Zamboanga City school shooting leaves two dead, including gunman FAST-MOVING

A shooting at a high school affiliated with Ateneo de Zamboanga University in Zamboanga City, Philippines, resulted in two fatalities on Tuesday. The victims included a tenth-grade male student and the gunman, a ninth-grade student who died by suicide.

According to Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan Olaso, the shooter used a high-powered firearm and reportedly wore a camera to livestream the attack on Facebook. The incident began when the suspect allegedly fired at a teacher before moving to a classroom and shooting a fellow student.

University President Ernald Andal confirmed that the situation is under control and that no additional fatalities or injuries have been reported. The Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation are investigating how the student managed to bring a pistol and a rifle onto the campus.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. condemned the attack, calling for a thorough investigation and emphasizing the need for schools to remain safe environments. This event marks the second school shooting in the Philippines in less than two months, following an incident in Tacloban City in June.
