Zambrone Mayor L’Andolina loses office following council resignations
Political instability is spreading across several Italian municipalities. In Zambrone, Mayor Corrado L’Andolina has seen his administration collapse following the simultaneous resignation of six municipal councilors. This event also triggers his automatic removal from the presidency of the Province of Vibo Valentia. In a final move before his mandate ends, L’Andolina revoked the delegation of Vice President Nico Console and appointed Franco Barbalace to lead the provincial administration during the transition.
Other regions report similar friction. In Trani, Mayor Marco Galiano resigned due to an inability to find political consensus within his majority. In Vinovo, the administration faces a crisis after two councilors moved to the opposition and two assessors resigned. In Leverano, Mayor Marcello Rolli is facing accusations of authoritarianism from dissenting officials.
In the province of Agrigento, a decline in local bar businesses has resulted in a loss of 20.7 million euros since 2019. Meanwhile, in Catania, mayors in Maniace and Adrano have already signaled their intentions for the 2027 elections, despite legal challenges facing Fabio Mancuso in Adrano. In Reggio Calabria, Forza Italia secured a victory in recent by-elections for the Chamber of Deputies.
