Zambry Abdul Kadir urges PolyCC graduates to secure skill-matched employment
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir has emphasized that the employability of Polytechnic and Community College (PolyCC) graduates must be measured by more than just statistics. While PolyCC graduates achieved an employability rate exceeding 98 percent last year, Zambry stated that the focus must shift toward ensuring graduates secure jobs that match their specific skills, offer quality career prospects, and provide fair income levels.
To achieve this, Zambry called for deeper collaboration between educational institutions and industry players, specifically regarding curriculum development, training, and certification. He noted that rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, green technology, and the digital economy are reshaping the labor market, requiring graduates who are adaptable and capable of complex problem-solving.
Additionally, the Minister encouraged higher education students to embrace educational mobility by pursuing studies in different states across Malaysia. He noted that studying in various regions, including Sabah, Sarawak, and the Peninsula, can enrich student experiences and broaden their skill sets.
