Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal honored with award and pledges action against banditry

Governor Dauda Lawal of Nigeria’s Zamfara State was presented with the ZIK Pan‑African Leadership Award at a ceremony in Accra, Ghana. The award recognised his administration’s progress in public‑sector leadership, economic reforms, security, education and health, and Lawal thanked the organizers, saying the honor was dedicated to the people of Zamfara.

Later, Lawal visited Bungudu Local Government Area after a recent bandit attack that left families grieving and victims abducted. He pledged that the state would not negotiate with criminals, promised continued resources to restore security, and offered assistance to injured and displaced residents. The Emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, praised the governor’s efforts and expressed confidence that the bandit threat would be overcome.
