Zamfara IPAC leadership dispute intensifies as G8 coalition rejects election results

A leadership dispute has emerged within the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Zamfara State. A coalition of eight political parties, known as the G8, has declared that the council currently lacks legitimate state leadership.

Alhaji Adamu Haruna, the Zamfara Chairman of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and chairman of the G8 coalition, stated that the election producing the current IPAC leadership was “unlawful and unconstitutional.” The coalition has petitioned the IPAC national headquarters in Abuja and distanced itself from recent press conferences held by the disputed leadership.

In response, Zamfara IPAC Chairman Sulaiman Bungudu dismissed the allegations, asserting that the election was conducted by a national representative from the Abuja headquarters under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Bungudu maintained that due process was followed and called on the G8 coalition to cooperate with the existing leadership.
