Zamfara State bandits demand N30m ransom for six kidnapped Imams
Bandits in Zamfara State have demanded a N30 million ransom for the release of six Islamic clerics. The group originally abducted eight people, including five Imams, their driver, and two individuals traveling from a farm.
The driver of the clerics has been released following a N2 million ransom payment and has reunited with his family in Kwatsama village. For the two individuals taken from the farm, the bandits reportedly demanded N300,000 each and two 25-litre jerrycans of petrol.
A serving senator from Zamfara State has reportedly pledged to pay the N30 million ransom to secure the clerics' freedom. Local sources have expressed concern regarding the health and well-being of the elderly Imams, urging authorities to intensify efforts to ensure their safe return.
