Zamość museum to host exhibition on interwar officer ball traditions

The Museum of Fortifications and Weapons ‘Arsenał’ in Zamość will open a new exhibition titled ‘In the Glow of the Uniform – Traditions of Officer Balls in the Interwar Period’ on October 3, 2026. The exhibition, which runs until February 14, 2027, explores the social life, elegance, and military ceremonies of the Second Polish Republic.

The display highlights how officer balls served as significant social events where military status and community belonging were expressed through uniforms and formal evening wear. The exhibition also emphasizes the historical role of Zamość as a garrison city, where military ceremonies and local social life frequently intersected through dances, raves, and formal gatherings. Visitors can view original artifacts that provide material evidence of the era's social customs and officer culture.
